Black Pearl® Overview
Black Pearl® is the brand name for PLAMAN Global’s black diatomaceous earth product for animal nutrition applications. Diatomaceous earth is a natural product formed from fossilized remains of tiny, aquatic organisms called diatoms. Other sources of diatomaceous earth are white and are not rich in organic matter. There is a broad range of uses for white diatomaceous earth, including as a human and animal supplement to promote healthy hair and skin and as a natural detoxifying agent. Diatomaceous earth is approved for use in animal feeds in many countries as an inert carrier and anti-caking agent.
Black Pearl® is sourced from PLAMAN Global’s black diatomaceous earth deposit in Central Otago, New Zealand. Black diatomaceous earth is a unique form of diatomaceous earth that is dark in color and rich in natural organic matter (which contains humics, such as humic and fulvic acid) and other valuable nutrients, which have been shown to be beneficial in animal nutrition. PLAMAN Global is the only supplier of Black Pearl®. No other known deposits of Black Pearl’s® unique composition have been discovered, nor are any comparable products being commercially developed for animal feeds.
